The differences between recycled posts and repeating posts

Automating the re-posting of content is easy with Post Planner! 👌

But setting up this automatic re-posting is different for queued vs. scheduled posts.

Recycling Posts

Recycling = re-using posts by automatically sending them to the end of the queue after posting.

Recycling is only available on queued posts, not scheduled posts.

In Post Planner you can set up recycling on your posts in the Composer (when you create the post) or in Planned (after you've created it).

Example:

If you have 20 posts in your queue and a recycling post publishes, that post then goes from the 1st position in the queue to the 20th position. Then after all 19 other posts publish, the recycling post publishes again, and then is sent to the end of the queue again.

Repeating Posts

Repeating - re-using posts by automatically re-scheduling them for a time in the future after posting.

Repeating is only available for scheduled posts, not queued posts.

Important: repeating posts have pre-determined reposting intervals 📅 🕒

Unlike recycling posts (where the date and time of re-posting is determined by the length of your existing queue), repeating posts are set to repeat according to a specific interval that you set when scheduling the post.

In Post Planner you can set up repeating on your posts in Step 4 of the post composer, after selecting the "Schedule Post" option.

Example:

If you want a post to automatically post:

  • every 30 days forever

  • every December 25 until 2030

  • every 4 months until next year

... you can use repeating posts.
