📅 How do I set up my Posting Plan?

How to set up your Posting Plan to control when your posts publish automatically

Written by Joshua Parkinson

A Posting Plan is your recurring weekly schedule. It tells Post Planner exactly when to publish posts assigned to your queue or buckets.

Set it up once, and your posts publish on autopilot when you schedule them to your queue or a specific bucket from the Composer.

TIP: Set up your Buckets first — they're post categories you can assign each post to so your Posting Plan knows what type of content to publish in each time slot.

This article walks you through creating a Plan, adding posting times, and editing your schedule.

🗓️ What a posting plan is

A posting plan is a recurring weekly schedule made up of time slots. Each slot has a time and a source — one of your buckets, or the general queue.

When a slot's time comes around, Post Planner automatically pulls the next post from that source and publishes it. This is how your posting schedule can run on autopilot.

You can build one plan that covers several profiles, or a separate plan for each social account.

➕ How to create an automated Posting Plan

1. Go to the "Plan" tab

Open the "Plan" tab to manage your automated posting plans.

2. Create a new plan from scratch

Click "Create new plan" to begin.

NOTE: You can create a separate plan for each social account if you prefer.

3. Name your plan and choose its profiles

Give your plan a name, then select the social profiles this plan will publish to.

4. (Optional) Copy times from another plan, then start building

To set up faster, choose to copy posting times from an existing plan. Then click "Create new plan" to start building your schedule.

⏰ How to add posting times

Repeat this process until your Posting Plan is complete!

5. See every available time slot

Click "Show all 24 hours" to see and edit every possible posting time slot for each day.

6. Add a slot to your weekly plan

Click any empty time slot on the day you want to post.

7. Choose a source the time slot pulls from

Pick the source for that slot: the general queue, or one of your buckets. This is how a bucket gets connected to a time on your schedule.

8. Set the time

Set the exact posting time (down to the minute), and choose whether to post at that exact time or "Randomly within 20 minutes" of it.

9. (Optional) Choose which days it repeats to create time slots in bulk

Select the days you want this posting slot to repeat.

10. Save the posting time

Click Save to finalize the slot in your plan.

✏️ How to edit or delete a time

11. Adjust or remove a time slot

Click a posting time you've already created to edit it — or delete it if you no longer need it in your schedule.

12. Change the source or remove time slots in bulk

Use the checkboxes to select multiple time slots at once. You can either check the "Bulk action" checkbox to select all time slots, check any day's box to select all the time slots for that day of the week, or choose individual slots as needed.

Then choose one of the available bulk actions by clicking on the "Bulk action" button:

  • "Change source" — update the source (bucket or queue) for the selected time slots

  • "Delete times" — remove the selected time slots from your Posting Plan

⏸️ How to PAUSE a Posting Plan

Want your automated posting plan to stop posting?

You can pause your Posting Plan at any time by clicking “Pause posting”. To resume it, click “Unpause posting”.

📅 What to do next

Keep adding slots until you've built out your full week across all your accounts.

Then head to the Composer to add posts to your buckets or queue. Your Posting Plan takes care of publishing them on schedule.
