📷To ensure your image, video and gif posts publish successfully and look their best, follow the media guidelines below.

When uploading an image, video or gif to Post Planner, you should pay special attention to:

  • file type

  • file size (in data)

  • media size (in pixels and/or resolution)

  • media dimensions/ratio (height x width)

💡 Keep in mind also that the content you have access to for posting depends on your subscription plan.

File Type: JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF or TIFF

Max File Size: 15MB

Image Ratio: 1.91:1 to 1:1

Minimum Dimensions: 600x600 pixels

NOTE: Facebook automatically resizes and formats your photos but here are their recommended image settings:

Resize your photos to 2048 pixels wide or smaller. Save your image as a JPEG with an sRGB color profile.

For PNG, it is best to keep the file size below 1MB to avoid pixilation.

Video

File Type: MP4 or MOV

Max File Size: 4GB

Maximum Length: 240 minutes

Video Ratio: 4:5 (No larger than 4000px wide and divisible by 16px)

Frame rate: 30fps or below

Max Resolution: 1080p

Minimum Dimensions: 120x120 pixels

Audio: Stereo AAC audio compression with 128kbps and sample rate of 44, 100Hz

NOTE: Videos should not contain edit list or special boxes in file containers.

🔔 Reminder: Post Planner has a 200MB video upload limit.

Pro Tip! 💪 For larger videos, you'll need to use a tool like Handbrake or Video Smaller to get it under 200 MB before uploading.

Use the "Web Optimized" and "iPod 5G" support options in Handbrake or "Use low compression level (best quality)" in Video Smaller.

This maintains a viewable quality of the video but greatly reduces the size.

File Type: JPG or PNG

Max File Size: 30MB

Image Ratio: 1.91:1 to 4:5

Max Resolution: 1080p

Minimum Dimensions: 320 pixels

NOTE: Instagram will keep the photo's resolution if it is between 320 and 1080 pixels AND it has an aspect ratio between 1.91:1 and 4:5.

Anything not within that range will be cropped to fit a supported ratio.

Video

File Type: MP4

Max File Size: 650MB (videos with 10 minutes or less), 3.6GB (videos up to 60 minutes)

Maximum Length: 60 minutes (Web), 15 minutes (Mobile)

Video Ratio: 9:16 to 16:9

Minimum Dimensions: 320 pixels

NOTE: For a vertical video, upload with an aspect ratio of 9:16. For a horizontal video, upload with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Videos should have a minimum frame rate of 30 FPS (frames per second) and minimum resolution of 720 pixels.

Video Length: Minimum 4 seconds, maximum 15 minutes

Aspect ratio (Standard Width): Shorter than 1:2 (width:height), taller than 1.91:1.

Aspect ratio (Max Width): Square (1:1) or widescreen (16:9)

NOTE: We recommend making your videos square (1:1) or vertical (2:3 or 9:16).

Max. width videos can't exceed the height of a 1:1 aspect ratio.
